CAP Unit Ratifies CBA

Employees at CAP recently voted overwhelming to approve their first CBA. The unit's organizing committee, leads and staff worked tirelessly to win a strong contract that ensures CAP will be a great place to work for years to come.

Washington, D.C. — The Union for Non-Profit Workers announced its endorsement of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders today, with the first-in-the-nation New Hampshire primaries just a few days away.

A D.C.-based local union of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers, IFPTE Local 70 selected Sanders as the candidate that best reflects the policies and values important to its members.

Just-In-Time Scheduling Negatively Impacts the Lives of Many DC Workers

Just Hours legislation was introduced into the DC Council on 12/1/15 to address the problem of "just in time" scheduling. DCJwJ found “just in time” approaches to scheduling negatively impact many D.C. employees’ lives, often resulting in erratic and unpredictable hours making it hard to budget, arrange childcare, continue with education or hold down a second job to try to make ends meet.

Overtime Rule Lifts Wages for Millions

The DoL recently updated regulations governing overtime. The new rule raises the overtime salary threshold for full-time employees from 23,660 a year to 47,476 a year. Read Local 70's statement in support of the rule here.
